Mar 22, 2012 3:52 AM in response to Deni Kasamaby Pulem,Hi I have a solution to the problem.
Uninstall iTunes 10.6 and install iTunes 10.5.
You will have to delete the iTunesLibrary.itl file in the iTunes folder before running iTunes 10.5 or else you will get a message that says that the file was created using a newer version of iTunes and the application will quit.
You can download iTunes 10.5 here http://gdeluxe.com/itunes-10-5-download-now-links/
I honestly don't know why apple does not release an update (Say iTunes10.6.0.50) using the iTunes 10.5.3.3 build until they can sort out the problem so that we can get on with life while they sort this mess up.

For the one's that iPhoto '11 (aka, v9.2.2) resolves it for, ...I wonder why Apple hasn't posted iPhoto v9+ as a requirement under the Macintosh Software area on the download/system requirements page?

Mar 22, 2012 3:06 PM in response to Deni Kasamaby RZudonyi,I downloaded the iTunes 10.6 for Windows 64-bit and it constantly crashes my computer...the update for the iPhone does not allow my music to play...and now the purchases I have on iTunes can't download. Any idea on when Apple is going to fix this?

Mar 22, 2012 5:57 PM in response to Deni Kasamaby psr6629,Can't believe that thye've done it again. Cannot open iTunes for more than 20 seconds (one time in ten) and completely frustrated that after being loyal to Macs for 20 years and spending a fortune at iTunes store I now cannot access my music. The techies at Mac must realize by now that they've made a really big mistake somewhere in this 10.6 upgrade and if they had any consideration for their clients, who pay their salaries btw, they would fix this glitch quickly with a corrective download. Really disgusted that this is dragging on the way it is.

[See his solution on pg 2. dated 3/14/12. Basically, you need to reinstall 10.5.3]

Mar 22, 2012 10:09 PM in response to pparsnippby maark,This worked for me...
"The culprit seems to be the iPhoto library. If you move it out of the Pictures folder, say to the Desktop, you should find you can sync your devices with iTunes 10.6
If you don't use iPhoto that's fine. If you do, you'll have to move the library back again each time you use it, until Apple gets around to fixing the issue."
The above workaround fixed my issue with iTunes 10.6 crashing whenever I'd click on any connected iPhone iOS 5.1. Everything else I tried didn't work... reinstalling iTunes, reinstalling Lion, deleting preferences, reseting sync, repairing permissions, using a different iPhone. As part of the troubleshooting I created a test guest user account, and that worked fine. Its weird that on my other computer I'm running the same versions of OS and applications, and it wasn't having any issues. Thank you Apple Forums! 2+ hours with 3 Mac genius at the Apple store couldn't solve the problem.

Mar 23, 2012 2:52 AM in response to Deni Kasamaby psr6629,Thank you, the trashing of the toxic 10.6 and the reloading of 10.5.3 worked. Just have to find the time to update newer dowloads and purchases....thank you for nothing Apple!

Mar 23, 2012 4:51 AM in response to Deni Kasamaby Matt J T,Yea mine only opens for 5 seconds before quitting. Super annoying. Then the report says it can't send to apple.

Mar 23, 2012 4:59 AM in response to Matman285by JDfunky,Matman 285, if you have lost your Apple ID password, go to https://iforgot.apple.com/ to get a new password.
Then follow this process to get rid of iTunes 10.6 and reinstall iTunes 10.5.3:
- Quit iTunes
- Go to /Applications/ and click iTunes.app
- Press command + I to get info
- Edit the permissions so Everyone has read/write access
- Move iTunes 10.6 to the trash
- Go to ~/Music/iTunes (or wherever your iTunes library is stored)
- Copy iTunes Library.itl to your desktop to be safe (you can delete it when you finish the process, this is your 10.6 library which you may still need if you can’t fix iTunes after this)
- Go to ~/Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries/ and copy the file that was created closest to today; the old library you’re copying is your iTunes 10.5.3 library
- Paste it in ~/Music/iTunes
- Rename that file you have just pasted to: iTunes Library.itl
- Go to ~/Library/Preferences and delete every file that starts with com.apple.iTunes
- (If you can’t find the Library folder it may be hidden, to find it, select in the Finder > Go > Go to Folder) and type in ~/Library/Preferences, to temporarily access the directory in the Finder. When you are done, close this window and it will no longer be visible.)
- Download the iTunes 10.5.3 disk image from Apple website
- http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-3779.20120119.Bgty5/iTunes10.5.3.dmg
- Install iTunes 10.5.3; it should load the older library you just copied to your iTunes folder
- Open iTunes

Mar 23, 2012 6:42 AM in response to chickenwisdomby goldie38,Hi
I too have had same frustraiting issues with latest itunes 10.6 update on my mac.
Everything was ok prior to the download.
I called apple direct they said they had not heard of any issues with the update (don't they read the forums?) told me to re sort my library and start again (i have over 29GB of music in different playlists so no way i'm doing that!). Reloaded 10.6 itunes-no fix.
It crashed when i tried to sync my ipod.
And constantly crashed whenever i opened itunes. Although I have now stopped it crashing as noticed it would stay open depending what format I displayed the playlists! (to explain: if I have my movies playlist displayed as the artwork only, it crashed changed it to list view no problem).
Anyone had similiar?
