Not enough RAM, not powerful enough processor or gpu.
It is not going to happen.

No problem. Use iPhoto on your Mac and sync the albums to the iPad. It's really a breeze.
I know, but I need (want) it on my iPad as well......
Well, as Johnathan said, you can't have it.
Ouch
You sure that is the reason? Does the iPhone 4 have more ram and processor than the ipad1? I was thinking they were the same...or even the iPad might be a little quicker due to the larger screen and big hd apps...
I'm going to try a hacked version and report back...:-) I think it can handle it.. But the iPad not having the camera is probably why it won't work...:-(
I'm sure its because the iPad doesn't have a camera in it. iPhoto was designed for the iPad 2 Iphone 4 and iPod touch and later models like the 4s and the "New iPad" all which have cameras.
Yea I'm sure that's what it is... They just didn't wont to mess with making a separate app just for one device.. I'm hoping it will work but I'm sure it will foreclose when I open it cause it's going to look for the camera hardware...:-( lol but I'm going to give it a shot any ways... Can't hurt nothing...
Don't think so, iPad 1 can run numerous other photo editing apps with no problems aka snapseed not to mention heavy processing power games like infinity blade. It's just an excuse to try to push people out of fully functional hardware to the latest and greatest, until next year product.
Like I said. They would have to keep up and redesign the iPhoto app to make it work. But they are not going thru the trouble just for one device. And the hacked version I downloaded to iPhone 4 wouldnt work on the iPhone4. ;-(
I had to sell my Mac to buy my iPad 1 and I've been waiting for this app ever since, it's the one thing I miss the most from my Mac. I'm truly, utterly gutted.
Maybe someday a tablet will replace a computer but we are not there yet. The iPad 1 still required a computer to sync with. It wasn't until iOS 5 and iCloud that the cord was cut. Most computing and word processing is better done on a computer rather than a tablet.

Perhaps you should have investigated BEFORE you made such a drastic decision.
It is running on iPad 1 folks...
