Q: Apple TV television shows out of order?

I've just upgraded to IOS 5.0 on one of my apple tv's 2nd generation and now my tv shows are out of order. I generally keep it on "Unwatched" and the seasons for the shows stay together in alphabetical order, making it easier to find the shows I want to watch. Since the upgrade though, the seasons are still together but out of order alphabetically.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Most of my shows are ripped or recorded and I add tags with iVL.

I am also seeing this but it on both of my Apple TVs and I have only updated one so I am assuming it must be an iTunes 10.6 issue

I upgraded all at the same time so I can't verify that it's iTunes 10.6. I have tried sorting thru itunes but still the same.

It is sorting by date added in iTunes. I haven't figured out how to change that yet.

Definitely sorting by date order, very frustrating, especially as the top of the list is the oldest.  I don't see why this isn't a controllable option, it makes my large library almost unusable.

I think best way round it is to use the iPhone/Pad remote, at least then you can see an alphabetical list.  If they are so insistent on using sych a cockeyed method why is it only on TV shows and not movies?

It seems to be sorted in order of date added.

That is actually fairly helpful, as you can solve it by deleting them and the re-adding in the order you want. As they are in alphabetical order in finder, you can do multiple shows at a time, although obviously "The" is an issue.

I think I'm going to do it, as it will probably take a few weeks for a solution from Apple. I think I can do this in an hour or so.

Same issue here -- TV shows (LOTS of them) all out of order.

It happened to me on my ATV2 when I updated iTunes64 to v10.6.

This is such an annoyance that I tried uninstalling v10.6 and going back to v10.5, but then iTunes can't read the library because it's been updated to v10.6 specs.

I also have three ATV1's, but I haven't checked them yet to see if the problem also affects them.

Really, Apple?  How can you mess up something this simple?

Do you have  Time Machine backup enabled? If so, you can look and see if you have a previous version of the library (from 2 days ago, for example) and see if that is 10.5 compatible. Be sure to make a copy of your current 10.6 library first though

Nope, using Windows 7, 64-bit.  Don't think I have a backup anywhere.  Lesson learned.

    Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Hopefully Apple will fix this soon...

I am having the same issue on all my Macs.  I updated everything to iTunes 10.6 and my Apple TV to update 5.  Its sorting everything on Apple TV by date added.  With more than 4,000 TV shows in one library, it makes it virtually unusable.  Apple, please fix this!

Did they also remove the ability to have Playlists that include TV Shows in the update? If not, you can make a Smart Playlist for each Show.

I haven't updated my units yet so I can't check myself.

I am also having the same issue.  As others have said, it seems to be iTunes 10.6 which is screwing things up.  Not sure how this made it into the wild...it seems like a major bug.  Make sure you let Apple know about the issue.

Creating playlist on a library of over 200 individual shows is not very practical. I imagine selecting unwatched shows is a built in smart playlist and it is out of order as well.

My latest attempt was to rebuild my tv show library and that was a big flop. Started with "I's" went alphabetically to "W's" then started with "A's" to "I's" again. And now I need to go back and mark shows as "watched". This is a bug. Make sure your all providing feedback thru iTunes so that Apple is aware of how many people this is affecting.

It does make the library unusable. Over 200 shows with over 7000 episodes, you can imagine.
