In the Music app select Playlists. If you want to create a new play list click on the "Add Playlist..." which is the second one in the list on my iPhone. Then give the playlist a name. Now you have a new empty play list. Next you'll have a list of songs on you iPhone. Just click on the + sign next the songs you want in your new playlist. When you're done, click on Done.

If you want to edit an existing play list then select it from the list of play lists. Click on the Edit button at the top of the screen. Now you can rearrange or delete items in this list. There may or may not be a + button at the top of the screen to add more songs to the playlist. Not sure why it's there on some lists but not others.

you solved my problem but I don't know how to give you the green check mark.

Thanks so much.

my problem was that I got a new computer and backed up my phone on it.

Everything was fine except it did not show my playlists on itunes anymore.

Don't know why - they are on my phone.

Anyway, that is why I needed to move new songs to my playlists via the iphone.

Thanks again.

I have the problem, that, I want to add a song wich I actually listen to, to my playlist. I understood how to manage playlists, but I didnt found a a way just to ad a song. Is there a possibility? If I listen to a song that I like very much, I do not want to jump to playlist, open the palylist, click edit, click the plus button, and then search the song out of about 4000...

Is there a possibility to just ad the acutal title like described at the beginning?

Greetings

Stephan

Thank you for this information - it took me quite sometime to figure out what i was doing wrong. When I read your post and the one below, I finally figured out I cannot customize the default playlists like I wanted to - but then I created a My FAVS list, added many songs and clicked the done button. And THAT is when I finally saw the Edit, etc. buttons at the top and I am now able to customize my song list at will. Was driving me CRAZY - so thanks again!

@allamb & stephanW

I found this thread via a search, I have a new iphone 5 (also i am completely new to iphone, having been the last few years on android) and i have spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to add a song to a playlist.

You see i sit a work and listen to dozens of tunes, and i want to add a paticular song to a particular play list, and low and behold I can't, excuse my special characters but "What the f#%k itunes/apple??? - how can this be? Such a commonly needed function and for itunes to be the number music player in the world not to have this feature is ludicrus.

I am lucky that i only have about 500 songs on my iphone thus far, i feel sorry for stephanW with 4000+ !!

Apple - please fix - this is schoolboy programming stuff...

I soo agree with you. I´m really missing this feature. Can´t belive how cumbersome it is to add the song I´m listening to, to a playlist. I love to play my 6000+ songs randomely and would like to add songs to my playlist from there. Please Apple. do something about this. My suggestion to a new feature: Hold your finger 2-3 seconds on the song to open a menu of choises like "add song to playlist"

how can i move songs to my playlists using my iphone rather than computer?
