What is the best wireless printer for MacBook Air

I am a new Mac user and have the new MacBook Air. I want to buy a wireless printer but have no idea which one would be best. I have always liked HP printers for my PC. Thank you!

There is no such thing as a "best wireless printer for MacBook Air." If you prefer HP then look over reviews of the various Wi-Fi HP printers that are supported in Lion. You can find a list of all the HP printers supported in Lion in Apple's Printer and scanner software for Snow Leopard & Lion . You will need to determine what your needs are first, such as do you want color, laser or inkjet, duplexing, speed, etc.. before you can start narrowing down the candidates.

As rkaufmann said, the "best" printer is the one that is best for the way you use it. You'll have to think about how you plan to use the printer before you can choose one.

For me, I'm using an HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw. It's a color laserjet printer with a small footprint. It's wireless and compatible with Airprint, so I can print from my iPad or iPhone too. It only prints -- it doesn't scan or fax. The quality of the laser prints is very good, and it will print regular documents or photos.

While looking at reviews for printers, take a good look at two things in particular: the ease of installing the printer and the cost of consumables (ink). Some wireless printers are a royal PITA to setup and keep connected others aren't. Also laser printers, which historically have been expensive to purchase with low per page print costs, are now following the same line inkjet printers did. The cost of laser printers have dropped dramatically and to offset this many manufacturers are reducing the number of pages a toner cartridge prints without reducing the price.

I would mostly agree with Ashlanderz. Recently I bought an Epson WorkForce 545. It was by far the easiest printer to setup wirelessly with my MBA. It's a 4 in one printer for around $110. If you're looking for a fast printer or one that does great graphics, I don't think this model is the one you want.

We already have two other printers in our home for fancy jobs. I just wanted an easy to setup wifi printer that I can print from either MBA, my iPad or my IP ANYWHERE in the house and the 545 does do that greatly. I just wish it would auto turn on, but I don't think it uses too much juice in standby mode.
