unable to check for update - an error occurred while checking for a software update

Apple's server might be experiencing problems. Several people have been having a problem.

Set DNS in iPad (Wi-Fi settings) to 8.8.8.8 and it will update! Don't ask me how :-)

It is all in your WIFI.

I have 2 internal Wifi networks at home. In one (family) the software update works immediately, in the other one (guess) it gives me the same error "Unable to Check for Udpate" ... The guess network I did set up carries some restrictions being the reason why the update does not work.

thank you for this info. this actually helped as oppposed to the email response I got from Apple... I'm glad I kept looking around for results..🙂
