Magic trackpad never turns off & connects to unwanted computers

I might be doing (or not doing) something dumb, but I am unable to ever turn off my magic trackpad (apart from taking the batteries out - the 'on/off' switch seems to be an 'on/more on' switch). Also, I use the trackpad with my MacBook away from home, is there any way to stop it automatically connecting with my iMac when I am get back home?

To turn it off, hold the power switch for 5 seconds. Tap the power switch once to turn it on.

To prevent the trackpad from connecting with the iMac, unpair it from the iMac in System Preferences > Bluetooth > highlight the trackpad in the list > press the "-" icon below the list.

Thank you for the info, I have now unpaired the trackpad from the iMac.

With respect to turning it off, if you put the laptop to sleep (instead of shutting it down) the trackpad stays on unless you disconnect it first. Once you have disconnected it, then holding the power button for 5 seconds will turn it off.
