iOS 5.1 Batterydrain issue/problem

Hello,

after having the feeling the Battery is sucked out by the new iOS, the problem is still there in 5.0.1.

And now in 5.1 its getting more worse. Even my girlfriend mentiond it.

So i am carefully asking the community: Are you experiencing the same batterydrain that was mentioned before, but now even worse than before?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1

Guys, any progrees for this issue ?

My problem is the same. I have 3 iphone4 in my family. They were bought in the same day.

We have never any battery drain issue on 5.01 and our phones was working during 2-3 days without recharge.

When 5.1 came out i updated all 3 iphone one by one through wifi. Update process was ok.

But on next day i mentioned that my Iphone can't last even one day in passive mode, just 5-6 calls during this day, 1-3 min each... I charged it to 100% and on the next day i had the same problem. But my wife and my son iphones were fine maybe even better than before. Then i tried every method to fix i found on web.

I restored through usb, made new update, restored iphone as new one, made full factory restore, disabled any kind of services (geo, time, mail, push, facetime, imessage etc) but still the same, my iphone dies from 100% to 0% in 5-6 hours.

I put my phone and my wife phone on the table 100% percent charge, she have everything enabled (3g, wifi, geo, icloud) i have everything disabled on mine and in airplane mode: on 10-15% percent of mine she have one 1-2% on her.

Do you have any suggestion ? I can't go to apple store to replace it, because i do not live in USA and our warranty term is a bit different. 😟

I think I've found the problem... It's the 3G network, or your personal hotspot to me more precise, when you turn your 3G network on look at the personal hotspot bar. You'll see that it will constantly load, now I don't even have a tethered data option in my plan so I have no idea why it keeps trying to set itself up... But when I turn of 3G network... My batter lasts so long... But unfortunately that makes my iPhone pretty much just like any other phone when I'm not connected to wifi...

There appears to have been a battery management problem introduced in iOS 5.1. My iPad 2's battery management quite suddenly deteriorated after installiong iOS 5.1, and I found two things:

(1) The contents of iOS 5.1 include "Addresses bugs affecting battery life"

(2) Other people reported the same problem after installing iOS 5.1. Try googling on "ipad slow battery charging" and you will find several threads, such as athttps://discussions.apple.com/thread/3789887?start=0&tstart=0

I do not understand how Apple could have made changes to battery management and not discovered in their testing that they had made matters worse.

I too have found my battery to drain in a day. Usually could get two days.

I remembered the other day that I enable back up to iCloud instead of computer. Just disabled now and will monitor if it goes back to normal.

I'm good with batteries usually, fully draining and fully charging etc so doubtful the battery is goosed already. Phone is 4 months old...

The home button is wonky so I might just try get a new one in the not do fists t future if the battery is goosed.

@ Property they won't give you a new phone, I'm on my 4th one and they say it's software related, not hardware related. They did offer to give me my money back however but they would not keep replacing my phone. So for now I have figured out what is draining mine, and I turn off bluetooth when I'm not talking on phone. Deleted icloud, and my phone lasts almost a day and a half now.

Further to my previous post, I read that someone had solved their iPad battery management problems by restoring their iPad to factory settings, and then restoring from backup; they felt that the original 5.1 installation had completed but had been corrupted in some way that was affecting battery management.

I therefore tried restoring my iPad 2, and battery management is also restored to what it was before! 🙂

I have no idea what the actual problem was, or if the hypothesis of slightly corrupted 5.1 installations has any merit, but if anyone else has run out of ideas, it might be worth trying a restore.

I updated my iPhone4 OTA to iOS5.1.1. I Obviously made the mistake of deciding to start charging my phone while it was updating. The update went smoothly and i let the phone to fully charge. I unplugged it and went to bed. About 8 hours later I found the iPhone switched off and the battery drained. I haven't had the chance yet to fully charge my iPhone again and let the battery go through at least one cycle so I am at the moment hopeful. But it looks like there are a few people complaining about the iPhone's performance after the latest update.

I have had intermittent heavy battery drain for a few months, even before IOS 5.1. The battery drain was so heavy that the back of the phone became quite warm. The iAssistant app shows 50% to 100% swings every very seconds. There are no apps running, all locations services except find my phone and Google Maps turned off, iCloud back up turned off.

I have been on good WiFi signal all day. The battery went from 100% this morning to 19% after 15hrs, with perhaps 30 minutes of phone calls during the day. Now in the past 30 minutes the battery has gone from 19% to 9%. A poweroff shutdown has made no difference to battery drain or CPU usage.

Anyone from Apple listening to these problems?

Hello everyone. I have iPhone 4S and Apple has changed my device for 2 times (Apple Warrantly)
My problem is, when Im using app like Facebook, Safari and others, my batterys drains 1% per 2, 2:30 mins.
I have called to Apple Support, they told me "if your device is drains 1% of battery per 2, 2:30 mins...its strange"
Its my 3° iPhone 4S and still the same problem.

P.S its drain 1% per 2:, 2:30 on 3G, just basic service locations on, 2 email accouts on push email, notification center just for calendar, reminders, weather and lost calls, iCloud backup on, iCloud mail, reminders, calendar and photo stream is online and brithgness is 50%.

is it normal? drains 1% of battery for each 2, 2:30 mins? using 3G.

Just an update from me.

I had my handset replaced under warranty.

They checked the battery usage with the software in the Apple store and said it was perfectly normal.

Since having the new phone though, I have had better battery. Maybe somehow the battery got zapped quickly or maybe it was an app I had at the time. Either way the new phone has no battery drain issues on 5.1 & 5.11

Cheers
