Authentication error ARD 3.5.1 and failed reports in Lion 10.7.3

Anyone know how to fix the authentication error in Apple Remote Desktop 3.5.1 on Lion 10.7.3.

We are on a static network. Some MBPs have no problem, others will not connect. Computer Scanner Icon is faded, but turns solid blue if we delete them and rescan. When we try to pull reports, it askes for authentication and fails shortly afterwards. Request for reports seem to just hang with the scrolling bar and never returns a successful report. They all have the same local admin account. I have tried changing IP address, hostname, and tried the fix on: http://blog.expandrive.com/2008/09/29/fix-apple-remote-desktops-authentication-f ailed-error%E2%80%94remotely/

That article is really outdated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

nevermind. i found the fix. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3191199?answerId=15682076022#15682076022

ssh into the offending machine and type:

sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/k ickstart -deactivate -configure -access -off

sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/Resources/k ickstart -activate -configure -access -on -restart -agent -privs -all

voila. see here for more: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2370

Summary

Note: This document does not apply to ARD version 1.2 or earlier or versions 1.2.1 to 1.2.4. Apple Remote Desktop 2 or later include the "kickstart" command line utility. It allows you to install, uninstall, activate, configure, and restart components of Apple Remote Desktop without restarting the computer. You can configure all the features found in Apple Remote Desktop preferences.
