Monitor appears inverse-like a photo negative

My iMac's monitor appears as invers--like a photo negative. Turned off computer. Re-started, and still inverse.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Check Universal Access system preferences --> Seeing --> Display --> black on white and white on black radio buttons.

Control + option + command + 8 button combination.

Go to Sistem Preferences... Universal Access and select Black on White under Seeing.
