The command Q shortcut to close safari appears to be turned off. Any ideas how to get it to work again??

When I turned on my computer today. The command Q shortcut to shut down Safari is no longer highlighted to use. It appears dim. Command Q still works for all other programs. Any ideas how I can get this to work again?

Thanks for the help

If this were happening to me, I would try the following.

Hold option while clicking and holding on the Safari icon in the dock.

Select "Force Quit". This should quit Safari. Did it work?

Assuming this worked, relaunch Safari by holding down the shift key and clicking on the Safari icon in the dock.

Did this put everything right? (That is, does the command-q thing work correctly now?)

The shift key part keeps Safari from trying to re-open any old websites, one of which might have been causing your problem.
