I have upgraded my iphone 4s from 5.0.1 to 5.1. I can significantly notice that the ringtone volume is much lower than before with IOS 5.0.1 installed. Of course I set the same volume level at the same place before and after I upgraded to IOS 5.1.

Hi, make sure that your settings are good go to settings> music and then make sure that volume limit and sounds check is off.
yes, I set eveything the same before and after installing ISO5.1. I don't notice any volume changed when I am on call, but the ringtone is actually weaker than before. I feel a bit louder when I set the ringtone volume to half way with ios 5.0.1, but now it's a bit low when I also set the ringtone volume half way with ios 5.1.
the only thing that i can think of it a reset of your phone and reinstall of it.
Well i have the same stupid problem after i updated to 5.1 today and i did ckeck on EQ and reset + reinstalled the software AND NOTHING !!!!! the songs volume is pretty normal ( i guess) BUT the ringtone volume is lower (and sure the volume bar setted to the MAX)
Please help ...any ideas

I can verify that upgrading to iOS 5.1 does in fact lower the overall ringer volume. Yes I checked the volume settings and the music/volume limit options and they are all set properly. Also this is not some qwirk as I upgraded both mine and my mothers phone at the same time and both now have almost half the loudness in volume than they had before.

Upgraded 2 4S phones last night, both experiencing same issue. Read that connecting to Siri may resolve the issue? Didn't work for either of mine?

I don't think we can downgrade back to 5.0.1,so we can't do anything but just wait for the next release. I know it's not realistic.
Just read in another thread that restoring as a new phone has worked for some. I'm on the road so if anybody tries this and it works please let me know.

i think if it's possible , i will stick to it untill they fix this issues in 5.1 ...and by the way ...they claim this new update will save ur battery ...mine just donot ...lol ^_^ ^_^
