These apps cannot be accepted on this computer.

Hello, I´m trying to update my iMac 21.5 2,7 Ghz 4Gb OS X Lion 10.7.3 with Garageband 6.0.5 (installed 6.0.4) through App Store.

I have to fill in my app store password and then I received this message:

These apps cannot be accepted on this computer. Future updates of these apps can be found through Software Update.

Any help?

Thanks in advance.

I resolved the issue, well, not me, Xof107did, it´s the same for GarageBand (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3573842?answerId=17035276022#17035276022)

Solution:

1. put the GrageBand-app in the trash (look in Finder under applications, or other folder you've moved GarageBand to)

2. go to the App Store, look for GarageBand , it now shows as "accept" and no longer as installed.

3. click on accept and fill in your AppleID and password.

4. go to the App Store / purchases (I hope this is the correct translation 🙂) and install the new version of GarageBand .

5. done and enjoy the new version.

Thnak you so much Xof107

Thank you JoseAnt. I tried but it said updates can be acquired through software update and i still can't get it through appstore. while when i go software update, nothing appeared.

i remembered last time for iphoto11 upate the same thing occured, i followed some instruction to go to some 'applications library' folder to delete something to delete the data linked to app store so that updates can be downloaded through software update.

the sad thing is i do not remember how exactly it is done now. anyone knows about this?

same thing happened to me on iPhoto as well, and I followed this solution to delete my iPhoto but after that when I click on "accept" on Mac App Store, it poped out the same message saying that iPhoto update is not available through App Store but through software update only. The annoying thing is, when exact same thing happened to garageband software this time, I still can't upgrade it through software update......really frustrating....

SOLUTION:

[for iLife apps e.g. iPhoto, iMovie & Garageband installed under/associated with Apple ID you do not have access to]

Unable to update through Mac Apps Store or Accept iLife App after putting previous version in the trash.

1. Finder: go to applications

2. Right click on application [iPhoto, iMovie or Garageband]

3. select Show Package Contents

4. open or expand _MASReceipt folder

5. delete the receipt file [requires administrative priveleges for the Mac you are working on]

6. run Software Update from Apple Menu; the applications update should now appear here and not in the Mac App Store [at least as of this writing]

7. Optional: empty trash
