Q: set up Find my iPod

Can someone please explain how to set up Find my iPod and Find my iMac? I have tried and I just don't get it. When I go to iCloud, both my iPod and laptop are listed under 'My Devices' but both show 'No Location' even though both are on and connected to wifi. "Play sound" is turned on. The other day when I was at the library, my iPod started beeping. ??? I obviously don't understand how these things are suppose to work. I tried the iPod manual but that didn't help. Can someone explain?

Find My iPod depends on your WiFi router being in Apple's location database. If it isn't, then no location will be found. Perhaps that's the issue here, though there's no way to check other than to try the service when your iPod is connected to a different WiFi network. This article may help, though:

Good luck with getting the Mac to see its location. My Mac Mini can't find itself 95% of the time eventhough it sees my iPod which is on the same network.
