I tried installing a earlier version of itunes but then of course my library would not work! Come on Apple, are you going to do anything about this? I know you are lossing money from me!

Everyone... I'm running Windows 7 64bit version. I haven't been able to sign into the itunes store for over two weeks until now! I finally got something from apple support that fixed it. There were remnants of a previous download still in my registry that never got cleaned up. This prevented me from signing in and using the itunes store. The below link from support enabled me to download and find the issues. Keep in mind this is a sort of registry editing, free software so be carefull!! You can screw up your computer big time by deleting the wrong stuf!!!

I had this problem - itunes just refused to accept my log in from my laptop when i could get on on my ipad. I tried the eariler suggested fix and realised i was running speedbit video accelerator which was on the list of programs which cause issues with itunes. on a hunch i uninstalled it and then tried to log in - did it straight away. its probably something similar on your system which itunes doesnt like.

try opening the winzip file from the following link and looking at which of the programs listed you have. if its just some free software, remove it then get onto itunes http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123

when you have done with itunes, reinstall the software you want to use.

hope this helps, it worked for me

regards

Jane

Uninstalling video accelerator didnt work for me.

I went to the length of formating my hard disk and resintalling windows. Even with a vanilla windows install and just iTunes i still have the same issue. I have no 3rd party software and no security software, just a fully updated Windows Service Pack 3 installation.

I have spoken to Apple and they are currently investigating the possibility that this is a server side issue. I suspect it will be certificate related somehow. No point in wasting any more time until i hear back from Apple.

I agree that this looks like it is certificate-related.

I have also spoke to Apple about this and they are investigating this.

There have been quite a large number of posts reporting this error and in one them the following folder was shown to contain log files:

C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs (where username can be 'Joebloggs' etc).

I checked this folder and the most recent log file contains the following entry numerous times:

[4652 @ Mon Mar 26 18:43:27 2012] [com.apple.iTunes iTunes.exe] CertVerifyCertificateChainPolicy failed with error 0x80092013

[6040 @ Mon Mar 26 18:43:27 2012] [com.apple.console APSDaemon.exe] CertVerifyCertificateChainPolicy failed with error 0x80092013

[4652 @ Tue Mar 27 00:00:05 2012] [com.apple.iTunes iTunes.exe] CertVerifyCertificateChainPolicy failed with error 0x80092013

Looking at this the problem is related to certificates and itunes.exe and apsdaemon.exe.

Interstingly I have noticed whenever I exit itunes it stays resident in memory (this can be checked by using task manager'). The only way for it to completely exit itunes is to end the process tree for apsdaemon.exe in task manager. Does anyone else get this problem? The reason I ask this is that a large number of errors have been reported with apsdaemon.exe as well in this forum.
