    By "connect"....without guessing....we don't whether you are asking about wireless only, or connecting using an Ethernet cable.

     

    If you are asking about "wireless only", the Express can only "extend" a wireless network produced by another Apple router. It is not compatible for this purpose with devices from other manufacturers.

    I was meaning wireless. I have two-storied house and I'm looking for a solution to wirelessly improve signal in 2nd floor but seems this is not the way unless I buy new Apple router to 1st floor also. Thanks Bob, anytips how to do it?

    If you are looking at two Apple routers, the step by step instructions to do this are here:

    Although two AirPort Extremes are pictured, the setup for an Express would be exactly the same.
