Q: iSight for astrophotograhy

Does anyone have access to a circuit diagram for the external iSight camera?

I am atempting to modify an external iSight camera for astrophotography.  So far I have successfully followed the adaption detailed by Will WInters which works great for basic imaging; however I am hoping to go one stage further   I am hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction so I can fit a cooling fan inside the camera.  I need to work out which of the firewire cable inputs carries the power, then I can piggy back a fan onto it.  If I am feeling brave I might atempt to remove the microphone so any advice on that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

I have never found the kind of info you seek published anywhere, Phil.

Apple does not publish circuit diagrams for their products.  If you have advanced electronics skills, you may be able to infer some of what you need from the block diagrams furnished in some of the published Apple Developer information that can be found -->HERE<--.

If that does not help you, my best suggestion is that you see your local Apple Authorized Service Provider.  The AASPs have access to special tools, test equipment, and technical data not available to users.  If the AASP does have what you need, I do not know whether he can or will share the info with you, but you could certainly ask.

Have you made any further progress with adapting your built in isight camera for long exposures? I'm wanting to do the exact same thing.
