13 inch MacBook Air won't power up

I've got the July 2011 13 inch MacBook air. Was using it this morning. Worked fine. Came back to my desk later, won't power up. Completely dead. It was connected to its power cord. There is a green light but it's just dead. Power Button won't start it up. Only option I'm thinking is to bring to an apple store. Any other possible suggestions before I do that?

Try to reset the SMC. If that doesn't help, then take it to the Apple store:

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
  3. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
  4. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
  5. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Went to Apple... They shipped it in for repair... It came back with the same problem. Then they agreed to swap the MacBook air for a new one... Same model config etc. after setting it up and getting it to work, I put in sleep mode and I'm getting the very same issue. Non functioning. It will not power up.

This is crazy. All I have hooked to the MacBook air is an HDTV with a thunderbolt cable to hdmi, and an external USB hub. None of these peripherals should have any issues with the Air. It makes no sense.

Ok hope you can help me too. My mac air was a sleep for an Few days and when I opened it up. The screen came on the cursor worked but I couldn't type anything. I turned it off and then back on. This time I had a white screen and the little wheel was spinning. I turned if off again and no nothing. I can hear the fan running but no screen appears. I tried the shift/ctrl on button, which stopped the fan. The screen still won't start.

Help please!,

This happened to me today. I left a download running, went shopping and came back two hours later to find my Air lifeless.

Doing a PRAM and SMC reset made no difference.

I popped the back off and found there was a large piece of fluff stuck in one of the fans and it wouldn't turn using my finger.

Removed the fluff, cleaned the fans with a soft paint brush, popped the lid back on and hey presto it fired up straight away.

I'm not recommending anyone takes apart their Air but it worked for me, I'm wondering if there's some sort of cut out if the fans fail to spin on start up.
