Will Quicktime Pro 7 convert my AVCHD (.MTS) files to .wmv, .mov, or the like?

I have a PC (if you're going to be stupid and tell me to get a mac or something like that, please just don't, I'm not getting a mac). I'm running Vista Ultimate (I don't like Windows 7). I have a Panaonic Lumix G2 and I usually would use a camcorder that shoots with mini-DV for video, but I thought I'd give my G2 a shot. But it turns out that my videos are all in AVCHD (.MTS) and I'd like to get them to a more recognizeable for sending to people who probably don't have VLC (and I don't want to have to make them download it). Does anyone know if Quicktime Pro 7 will be able to convert my AVCHD files into something more recognizeable like .wmv, .mov, .mp4, etc.?

QuickTime Player Pro can't even open your .mts videos let alone convert them.

It's the same on a Mac.
