Quicken 2007 for Lion is out but won't launch

I downloaded the 2007/Lion Quicken for Mac (just came out?). I am using Lion...

When I click on it is asks for my password then crashes, or just doesnt open.

Has anyone gotten it to work for them?

tried the usual stuff, reboot etc.

it's happening to me too, and apparently to lots of other people.

Shame on Intuit.

There's info on the crashing at the Intuit website. They are apparently having problems with it. I won't waste my money on it since they have always chosen to poorly support Macs.

iBank works great and I won't go back to Quicken unless they change their attitude toward Mac users. You would think by now they could have created a new Quicken for Mac instead of trying to patch something that is 5 years out of date.

Thanks, I waited to upgrade to Lion until this was available,

Now I'm converting back to Snow Leopard (made a clone before upgrade) and I'll wait until this gets sorted out.

Where did you see others having problem, my search found nothing or I would not have asked here.

Still good to know it is not "me".

thanks again

It makes you wonder why their brand new release of Quicken would be called Quicken 2007. Think they missed the mark by roughly five years. I wouldn't buy a raffle ticket off Intuit. lol

thanks, I sent crash report in. I know people are down on intuit for poor quicken Mac support and updates,

and I cannot blame them. but apple is not just "for the rest of us " anymore. it is ubiquitous. I have used Quicken since 1989, and it does just what I need, mostly keppinv a record of every financial transaction, stock, etc for 23 years. I'd rather just keep using It than switch as so may have suggested. I'm sure they will figure this bug out. Btw it worked fine for my brother , no crash .

I downloaded Q2007 for Lion and installed it on a 10.6.8 system. Runs fine with over 23 years of data, looks (and is, according to Intuit) just like the PPC Quicken, and it appears that there are no data conversions involved. A data file used in Quicken-Lion can be later opened and used in Quicken-PPC. This isn't a new program - just the old one with PPC code adapted/converted to Intel. (If it was that easy, why couldn't it have been done a long time ago with maybe some improvements/enhancements along the way? Oh well.) Anyway, so far - no problems, but time will tell.

According to the original e-mail sent out by Intuit, they indicated that they are newly committed to keeping Quicken up to date for the Mac so I was surprised not to see a new Quicken 2012. Still, they seem ready to help users out by making the 2007 program work on Lion so they should be able to get the bugs out and hopefully present s new program next year. After using the software for over 20 years, I would rather give them the benefit of the doubt instead of switching to something else as long as they can get their act together.

Intuit has updated their site

http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/quicken-mac-2007-for-lion-crashes-on-lion /SLN59495.html

saying the have identified 2 potential problems with potential fixes.

I'll have to try it when I get home

Oddly I , just this AM, also got an email from Intuit today (I was on their mailing list) for the Quicken 2007/Lion release, I wonder if this is an updated non-crashing version.

Well

it says to try this

A. Corrupted Quotes File:

  1. Hold down the Control key and single-click (or right-click) your data file
  2. Select Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu
  3. Double click the Contents folder
  4. Control + click on Quotes, select Move to Trash
  5. Start Quicken
  6. Open Investing > Portfolio
  7. Hold down the Command + Shift + U keys to rebuild the Quotes. NOTE: You may still need to download Historical prices for 5 years to get the complete data.

so I trashed the quotes file and it indeed opens in Lion, but of course all the quotes are gone.

I can download them, but some are put in manually so that data is gone, and it only goes back 5 years. I think the files I have go back further,

so I want to try the "rebuild the quotes" option but I hold down the COMMAND + SHIFT + U keys and nothing happens, am I doing something wrong?

BTW I redownloaded the software, now that I got the email that it was available, and they had identified the problem, to see if it was fixed and it is the same crashing version.

FWIW, I downloaded the app when it first appeared. My dmg file has a 2/27/12 mod date. I've successfully run it on Lion and Snow Leopard (where it runs rapidly) w/o any crashes. Don't know why others are experiencing crashes, but Intuit seems to be on top of the crashing issues. All in all, not bad for an expected spring release and the $15 upgrade price is reasonable. Nice to see your encouraging words. I was ready to pounce when I got the email but ran into Intuits "we have a little problem" going to the website...

Quicken 2006 and years of records are the only reason I still run a Tiger HD and clone on my MacPro. Bought iBank but haven't warmed up to it yet. My bank doesn't support it online but I am still able to download checking account transactions to my Lion iBank test account....

I fear Quickie Quicken 2007 Lion may be just another dead end, another excuse to procrastinate before facing the music in iCloud. I really haven't made Lion my main OS. Still based in SL. Doors are closing. My Mac Pro can't make the jump to Mountain Lion. So I'm looking to an iPad/ cloud future but not fondly

Real problem is I just can't face the folder by folder, format by format, storage device by storage device housecleaning and consolidation, that real progress or just keeping up requires.

I downloaded Quicken Mac 2007 Lion and have had to restart the software about 25 times so far in at least three different routine actions.
1. It would not let me download transaction from my Bank. I tried at least six times and crashed all six times. I sent Quicken the error results.
2.It crashed when routinely trying to change a date when entering a new transaction and using the small calendar icon below the date on the register.
3.it crashed when I tried to use the edit function on one of my accounts.

All in all this was the buggiest piece of software I have ever experienced. I was amazed that Quicken charged me $15 for them to fix a problem eight months later than everyone else. As far as I know all the other software companies updated their programs to run on Lion at no cost and were ready when Lion came on the market. Quicken is a seriously dysfunctional company.
