Hey people my iPad (new) has been prepared for shipment! I hope it ships early. Anyone else got this message on their order status?

I wouldn't count on it shipping early, although it seems to occasionally happen. My iPad is 135 miles away, and the FedEx page says "Future Delivery Requested." :-)

I just ordered mine tonight. I was on the fence as it's not really that significant an upgrade, but I do a lot of photography and I have now converted all my magazines to my iPad, so the Retina display should be much nicer and I got 32GB this time as I am getting close to needing to delete things off my iPad to free up more memory.
My iPad won't arrive until March 19th. Since there's nothing wrong with my current one, I can wait.......

I ordered a personalized iPad on Wednesday. It has shipped. I've followed it from Hong Kong to Anchorage. It's landing in Louisville in a few minutes, having flown practically dead overhead at 35000 feet (I obsess. I have stalked it using Flightaware.com and Wolfram Alpha's flights overhead.)
However, I think it will sit in Louisville, Kentucky until Thursday. I don't think Apple products ever get delivered before release day.
You are correct with rare exceptions for a few people.
Yes, I, too, got my notification. It says it's being shipped by fed ex and that it was picked up in Middletown, Pa! That's less than two hours from me!!
They are shipping ahead of delivery, not early. They will be held up at warehouses near the delivery location and go out for delivery on the 16th.
Does That mean If I Go To My Local Warehouse When I Know Its there, I Can Pick It Up? (Before The 16th)
Very doubtful. Apple usually tightly controls when new devices land in consumer hands.
No. Apple asks them to hold it at the warehouse until delivery day.

I tracked my New iPad and on the footnote it says "Future Delivery Requested". So yeah they'll sit on a dock untill Thursday. Mine was shipped from British Colombia Canada. That's odd. Maybe they had a warehouse distribution system setup for pre-orders.

So the answer is yes once the release date arrives, not before.
