You need at least 1 GB of RAM for Snow Leopard.

What are you trying to install? 10.6.8 is an update, not a retail installer.

You need to install 10.6.3 from the Snow Leopard retail disc, then update to 10.6.8 with the combo installer.

Also check you have the minimum specs at least -
