I bought an Airport Express to stream music over my (non-apple) wireless network. I had set it up successfully, but then I password-protected my network and the Airport Express can't connect. How do I get these back on the network? My laptop doesn't even recognize the Airport.

Once you change the password on your main network, you must also put that password in your other wireless devices connnecting to it...
Reset the Express and set it up again and use the network password you assigned your main base station.
How did you set up the Airport Express on a non-apple network in the first place (with or without a password)? I'm having trouble doing that since my other wifi routers/repeaters are not Apple products. I'm told by Apple that it can't be done, but by others that it can.
Any help is appreciated.
I do not have an Apple desktop, laptop or any Apple router. The way I set it up was install the wizard on my Lenovo laptop, then plug the Express unit into the wall. The Lenovo found the Express, and I just followed the wizard. Works great.
