The app store reports that I have 2 updates avaiable for purchased apps. However, when I select update the app store attempts to download the update momentarily then reports the following error: Cannot download update; NSInternalInconsistencyException. What gives? I am running OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro. Never had any problem before with App Store. Please help?

Installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo reinstalls the App Store which may help.
Resetart your Mac after instaling the combo. It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.8.

Thanks. I will give that a try later. I noticed that it is a 1+ GB file and my connection speed is usually 7-10Kb/s. So that would take an enormous amount of time, if it doesn't time out, to download.

Ok I downloaded and installed the Combo update.. However, the App Store problem is still there. It reports that two updates are available and when I attempt to update, it begins to download momentarily and then stops, reports that there is the error that I mentioned above. Are there any other answers to this issue?

What ultimately helped me was dropping my wireless service through my cellphone company and switching to a cable internet service. I guess the bandwith or download speeds were to low and App store kept dropping the connection.
Thanks Greg, I think this may be the answer. I took my MacBook Pro down to the local library and had no problem accesing the App store and updating apps using their network.
