email from PhoneNumber@mms.att.net

Suddenly, text messages from another phone are arriving to me are arriving as email from (thatPhoneNumber)@mms.att.net. I upgraded to iOS 5.1 yesterday, but haven't seen anything else odd (that I know of).

Is this a sender problem, receiver problem, or at&t problem?

Suggestions appreciated...

I experienced the same problem, and it was in fact not a problem: if you send a text message to an email address instead of a phone number, the recipient will get the message from [phone number]@mms.att.net

I guess when you created the text message you selected a contact email address instead of a phone number, they appear next to each others in your contact list if you type a contact name.

Hello ,mms.att.net has another big problem because ,I've had a crazy experience with this I am being hacked someone ported my phone number using Google voice I believe it was someone close to me, they would need to have had my phone long enough to get a call back and boom we had same number .they took over my emails and changed my passwords they then used airdroid to control my phone and lap top they force pushed their contacts info disguised as a double contact of an old friend of mine so it was hard to even notice it's been one **** of a ride . And I was alone in all this everyone I tried to get to help me thought I was going crazy. my phone was wiped and locked . When they used airdroid they basically could see me Change my passwords .. it's still going on but I ported my number back to myself while stumbling across Google Voice once I put my phone number in there and wanted to use my own number it took it back from them and that's when I figured everything out it disgusts me because they even got into iCloud with two verification if they have my number they have everything access to everything I think it's a relative of mine I don't know one of my nieces they were always using my phone I'll never let anybody touch my phone again. And I have yet to have anybody contact me to help me I called Google I've called the police at&t. I really am exhausted from this does anybody know if I have any legal rights to put somebody in jail for this do I have any rights? I feel violated they literally made me feel like I was going crazy out of my mind it's so crule.

I had this happen this week in text exchange with my daughter. and all my text messages were coming in as phone numbers instead of names as usual the way I want them. Went to the Core they didn't know; then went to Att store. A smart young woman employee said that when a signal is not available -the iphone will send a message as an email w 'phone number@ mms.att. net' ; as was happening. It's first time with my iphone but must be the problem-is that lack of signal from Att for I often turn on my TV w Att

U-Verse and there is no signal -I will have to work with it maybe 15 to 30 minutes to get a signal ; I have a problem with m ipad at home too. I have bought several signal boosters for areas of the house; but they don't seem to help.
