Safari Quicktime Plugin Not Working

Hey everyone,

I have read 10 - 20 topics about this problem and have found NO solution.

First problem: Quicktime Plugin.plugin was missing.
Solution: Using Pacifist I extracted the Quicktime Plugin.plugin and installed it to hd/library/internet plug-ins
Result: Still not working

Quicktime version: 10.0

Safari version: 5.1.2

I am very frustrated about this problem, their seems to be no solution and I have no idea what to do, I hope somebody can help me?

Try installing QuickTime Player 7.6.6. You can use two different versions of QuickTime in Snow Leopard and Lion.

Hey,

Thanks for replying but unfortunaly this didn't help. I installed it, and the plugin is stil missing.

Like my MBP is cursed to play quicktime video's in Safari ...

Any other suggestions of solutions?

Not installed, just like I told you before. It isn't in the plugin map. When I reinstall Quicktime 7 or 10 it doesn't install the plugin and when I manually put the plugin in there, which I extracted from the mac setup disk it still wont work.

I was unable to view .mov files in Firefox. What seemed to fix it for me is to copy the quicktime.plugin from

[hdd name]/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder into [username]/Library/Internet Plug-Ins.

I think that Linc Davis has a solution. At least it worked for me. If you have the plug-in installed do this:

Quit Safari.

Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:

☞ If running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Libraryfrom the Finder menu bar.

☞ If running an older version of Mac OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and enter “~/Library” (without the quotes) in the text box that opens.

Delete the following items from the Library folder:

Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist

Preferences/QuickTime Preferences

Relaunch Safari and test.

I did a Safari Reset of some of the items (history, website data, website previews, etc) and the Quicktime Plugin started working again.

Two versions of Quicktime are on this computer 10.3 and 7.6. I still get that a plugin is missing when I try to hear embedded midis on websites. However, I can see and hear videos on utube just fine. I would like to hear people's embedded midis on websites.
