In the iPhone 4S under the Timer, for the Option, When 'Timer Ends' it used to be a 'Sleep iphone'. After the iOS 5.1 update, I think, it is now changed to 'Stop Playing', which only stops the Music. Any idea how to - put the phone to Sleep mode.

Press the 'stop playing' optin and it will give you the choice of sleep iPhone or stop playing music

I had tried to check if there was an option under the 'Stop Playing', but did not have any. I have tried it again after I got your reply, but I do not get a further breakdown on the options.
Your suggestion, hopefully, is for the iphone.
It is for the iPhone yes. I have just checked mine and it has indeed changed. It now gives me the option to 'stop playing' or play a tone :/
It must be something that Apple decided to change in the latest update. The will be no way to get the 'sleep iPhone' option back unless Appleput it back on when they push a new update

I desperately set about checking the option you provided, but good to know that you have noticed the same thing.
Yes we might need to wait for the update from Apple, but I am not sure how will this be noticed and acted upon.
The sleep option was very good to have, because it took care of the other apps for streaming music etc, and would stop all of them. Would you suggest anyway of raising it to the Support people?

Same thing happened to me on my 3rd gen itouch when I got the IOS 5.1 update last week. Major bummer as I have used the sleep function every single night for the last 2+ years. I sent feedback to apple as well. Hopefully they fix it soon as its a massive battery suck without the sleep feature!
I hate this change. I used the sleep timer every night and now cannot use the timer at all. Simnce the change to "Stop Playing? my battery life has dropped by several hours. I confirmed this at the Genius Bar. Will send feedback.

Plug it in before you go to bed. Then, you'll be able to use the timer and the battery won't drain.
Have you noticed if they have fixed this yet? I tried to find this feature and was not able to.
Although it now says "Stop Playing," you can still use it to put the phone to sleep. When you select this option, it also puts the phone to sleep. Alternatively, you can tell Siri "Turn on timer to sleep in one minute." Even though Sleep iPhone is no longer on the Timer menu, Siri knows how to do this and it works.
