what case are you getting for the new iPad?
http://www.TheAvPad.com but they are out of stock until first of the month. A new model is due the first week of April.
CNET reviews 33 of the "best" cases for the new iPad (with photos).
I wouldn't believe cnet if they told me the sky was blue, fire is hot or water is wet.
Cnet is horrible.
You know, it's actually not a review at all. They just show 33 cases along with the manufacture's specs. And users comment on the cases they may be familiar with. The advantage is you can see the specs and pictures for 33 cases in one article.
But your point about CNET is valid. All these sites, blogs, and especially magazines are basically just publishing advertising for these products. The only one I trust is Consumer Reports because they do not accept advertising from anyone. Plus they don't allow any product manufacture to cite their test results.
Anyway, off to play with my new iPad that I just received, 🙂.
same with a Piel Frama 531 case I bought last year. Fits but smartcover function does not work.

Same with the rooCase I bought for the new iPad. It fits just fine, but the smartcover function doesn't work.
I picked up the Rocketfish MyWay case from Best Buy. Simple folio design and relatively inexpensive, although a little bulkier than my original Apple case for the orininal iPad, does the job nicely. Nice stand positioning and a slot to hold my stylus (which I might actually use a bit more now that its handily available).

Does the wake/sleep function work?
Doesn't include wake2sleep. Not a function a wanted.
The Speck PixelSkin HD Rubberized Wrap Case for iPad 2 fits the new iPad perfectly, and amazon has it for 25.99. It doesn't hold a keyboard but it's very sturdy and protective. http://www.amazon.com/Speck-Products-PixelSkin-Rubberized-SPK-A0324/dp/B004SGSHE 8/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1332098021&sr=8-7
Just picked up a Targus case at Best Buy, for the "Ipad 3). The magnet is not at the top of the case but is about 2 inches lower. Sleep function works with this case. FYI
its 0.3 mm not inches, it is slightly thicker but not significant, any iPad2 case will fit the iPad 3 except hard case form fit cases that you have to slide in the iPad.
I ended up getting the Otterbox from BestBuy. Only thing I'm not fond of is the plastic screen that's glued to the frame sitting on top of the screen. Easy enough fix though after I pop it out, remove any residue, and then put an HD screen protector on, it'll be perfect (Just waiting for it to come in).
As a side not the on/off screen function is a bit finicky. It really depends on how you put the stand cover back on. One way won't quite hit the sensor and the other way works fine.
I picked up this case couple days ago from Amazon and got it today. It's not bad and only 16$. It even comes with the screen protector
