For the money, the BEAR MOTION CASE seems to be a very good cover. I assume it is the genuine leather advertised which means it's probably an even better bargain. The case itself is thick and sturdy--good protection. It is made with quality craftsmanship: even and complete stitching, all parts fit, the openings match the iPad 3 without any need to alter any of them. The magnets do properly control the sleep/wake function even though the top cover does not lie completely flat (yet, in any case) when closed. My son chose a different cover for his iPad 3 because he wanted to be sure it did lie flat when opened. I can't recall if he even saw this item, but it does fold back completely and lies flat against the back. The top cover has two inside pockets that could hold business cards or even a cloth to wipe the screen. My husband's white ipad looks very nice inside this case. He also likes the extra sack believing that the corners would get even more protection when he sticks the ipad in his travel bag. While the case does leave the corners open, the front and back covers extend enough to give some measure of protection to the corners. He finds it is quite comfortable when holding it for an hour or so.

Any case that holds the iPad by use of those frame "flaps" is a deal breaker for me. I much prefer the snap in cradle style holders that do not encroach on the bezel. Having said that, many of the cradle style cases leave some of the iPad's edges exposed. I searched for a case that employed the cradle style holder and excellent coverage/protection of the iPad. The case I purchased is the Jisoncase folio which gave me the cradle, free bezels and maximum edge coverage. I should say, the reason I do not like frame style holders is that covered bezels hamper some game play (eg. Infinity Blade) which involve strenuous swiping. Frame style cases also gather debris (dust, hair, skin cells, etc.). I am on my fourth iPad, having utilized three times as many cases and Jisoncase is the only one I have been satisfied with. Put Jisoncase in a search engine and you'll find the manufacturer along with video showing how nicely their cases fit and protect.

When I got my Ipad I was searched for cases for hours and hours and finally decided to get the Griffin Survivor after a month I took it back it creeked and the built in screen protector made touching anything in the corners impossible. So I thought I would try the Otterbox and wow I have never been so happy with a case the stand is very sturdy, the built in screen protector is flush and no touch screen issues, and I love the ports very easy to access and the open speaker port is great. If you love you ipad get this case worth every penny.

Honestly, it really depends. Cases can vary widely from type to type and I think there are about 5 main types of cases for any tablet really. What I think is below;

#1) Folio Case: This type of case comes in several different styles and folds over the front and is the best for all over medium protection. You can get a folio case in 360 rotating style, folding book style or stand style.

#2) Messenger Bag: This type of case is similar to the ones used for a laptop but they have been adapted to fit a tablet because they are usually smaller and more compact. They still have a shoulder strap so these are perfect for if your a busy person and are on the go. 🙂

#3) Skin Case: This is a less bulky type of case and is designed to fit right around your ipad. Sometimes they come in stand form but if it is a skin case it will always be thin. You can get these in very durable forms such as otterbox defender cases but that again is a skin case.

#4) Waterproof Case: Just like it sounds. A waterproof case is designed to do just that, full proof your ipad from water. Pretty simple.😝

#5) Sleeve Case: A sleeve case is pretty much the same as a messenger bag the only difference is that they are usually less bulky and do not come with the strap.

I like to pick up new cases and I actually get them all from right in the link below but thats just me.

If you are looking for a case for scrong protection then I would recommend Otterbox. It's great for normal everyday activities to harsh conditions. Protects your iPad from drops, dust, and dirt.

If you are looking for more of a folder with some protection, then I would recommend Snugg or CaseCrown. It good for normal things and the cover looks sleek and professional.

I totally agree on the otterbox case recommendations. Another case that I've been really impressed with is the Snugg Case. It is by far the best case I have found for my iPad. I had searched for weeks and tried a variety of other cases. This one is perfect. Looks professional for when you use it for business, and sleek when you are out in public enjoying leisure time at the local coffee house. It feels great in the hands and the hand strap is great for holding it. I get bored with only having black, so lot's of colors to choose from is quite nice. Plain and simple, you're going to love this case for your iPad.

Most folio style cases just add unnecessary bulk, in my opinion. I like the Apple smart cover a lot, so I just use that. Then I just put on a plastic hard back cover. The one I've been using is the Caudabe Shell. http://www.caudabe.com/collections/ipad-accessories/products/ipad-back-cover-she ll-frost

Provides solid protection and is still pretty lightweight. Plus it's see-through and you can still see the Apple logo. It almost looks like nothing's there.

Just what I wanted. I purchased 2 cases and looked at many more locally before i found this one. I returned one of the cases i purchased immediately because it was flimsy. I kept the other one even though I didn't really like it because it didn't have a comfortable typing position. This one was much cheaper than the other ones I tried or looked at in the stores, it fits my needs perfectly.

I did a lot of research before finally deciding on a case, but I really love the one I ended up with. Its kind of a combination between a case and an iPad but its sooo nice. Anyway, the "best" case for you depends a lot on your particular situation, what you're looking for, and how you'll use it.
