Modal segue behavior

My app is data-driven so it seems appropriate to use modal segues. However, I'm worried if modal segues can be abused if they are never dismissed. For example, if I have a form and I press a button that calls a modal segue back to the main menu (rather than dismissing it), could I in theory create a loop with several redundant views that take up memory? Or is that even the case? Is it harmful to create a modal segue "loop"?
