Apple canceled my iPad pre-order

I pre-ordered my new iPad on Thursday, March 8th (32GB White, WiFi-only), and today received an email (below) stating that the order had been cancelled. I called Apple Support to inquire about the reason and the agent, while helpful, was completely baffled by the cancellation as well. He offered to resubmit my order, but now that the pre-order stock has been exhausted, I will not receive my iPad on the 16th as originally promised.

This is certainly disappointing coming from Apple, a company which ordinarily is outstanding in customer support. I'm still looking foward to receiving my new iPad, but it is a shame that an error on Apple's part means that I will have to wait an extra week for their mistake.

Has anyone else received unexpected notifications of canceled orders?

Dear Apple Customer,

Thank you for your recent iPad purchase at the Apple Online Store.

While we appreciate your interest in the new iPad, we are unable

to process your order. Apple is unable to fulfill orders that exceed

the quantity limit per customer, or that ship to an international,

freight forwarder, or an APO/AFO address.

Your iPad order has been cancelled, and you will not be charged.

Thank you for shopping with Apple.

Did any of the reasons cited in the email you received apply to you? If the answer is no, you have a good reason to be disapointed. If the answer is yes, your situation was cited as one of the reasons, so you really can't complain. Apple has never shipped internationally between countries (i.e., order in the US for shipment to Germany), shipped where a freight forwarder would be required, or ship to an APO/AFO address.

Placing multiple orders raises suspicions. If you were impatient, and clickeed the purchase button multiple times when the system was slow to respond, you might have inadvertently placed an order for two or more devices, thus breaking the maximum allowed purchase quantity.

If none of these apply, all you can do is contact Apple Store support again.

I was able to contact Apple Support again this afternoon and they were very helpful in rectifying the situation. A number of us share the same address and the system seemed to think this was suspicious. But, I have a new order that is back on track and am thrilled with how helpful my Apple Suport specialist was in taking care of this odd situation. Thanks!

Yep same thing happened to me in Singapore. Exact same sequence of events happened. Now my order is back to processing status and the expected delivery is back to "16th March to 22nd March". Let's wait and see when i get it but if this has happened before (seen lots of posts about this last year with the ipad 2) then they should have some sort of check for errors before cancelling and shouldn't make people waste all that time chasing up. And remember the days when Microsoft was the "big bad corporate"? Hope history doesn't repeat itself but Apple not gaining themselves many friends with their response so far.
