Q: How do I get video to show up on a 46' LG tv? The audio works but the galaxy sky background is the only thing to show up. I'm not sure what to do.

I can't get the video to show up on the tv. The background galaxy screen does but nothing else. I don't know what to change. Any ideas?

galaxy sky background is the only thing to show up

Then it is working as designed, in Extended desktop mode.

Look in System Preferences > Displays > | Arrange |

This will show two Icons, one for your Built-in display, one for your External Display. They will be touching along one edge.

The mouse moves freely across the boundary between the displays, and you can drag any window over there and resize it.

You can also re-arrange the displays to correspond with the way they are placed on your bench. If you wish, you can drag the MenuBar across to the tv to make it the main display.
