MBP 15" Jan 11' - Win7 Cirrus Audio Drivers - No Headphone or Microphone Sound

Hi all,

Apologies in advanced if this has been covered already, but I tried to follow a few other questions and it has ended up screwing up my drivers so far... So I'll basically recap where I'm at.

  • Currently using a MacBook Pro 15" (Early 2011 Model)
  • Installed Windows 7 (64bit) via Bootcamp
  • Internal Mic Working
  • Using a Headset plugged into the Line-In and Headphone Jacks - No sound from the external mic or via headphones.
  • Googled for help.
  • Fixes advised: Uninstall Cirrus Logic Drivers, reboot, and install new Cirrus Logic Driver
  • Uninstalled Cirrus Driver and Deleted Driver via Device Manager, Rebooted
  • Windows Installed 'High Definition Audio Driver'
  • Installed the Cirrus Driver Downloaded (64bit exe)
  • No sign of the driver being updated?
  • New High Definition Audio Driver does not appear to work. I'm now getting NO levels on my external OR internal mic (which was previously working okay).

So basically I'm not getting any sound now. How do I reinstall the cirrus audio drivers that were installed via bootcamp? And then how do I fix the mic and headphone jack problem? So confused right now... 😟

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi,

Related issue with a MacBook Pro late 2010, using Bootcamp 3.3, in Windows 7, 64bit, all updates current as of 2012-Mar-30.

In MacOSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard the MBP's combo (single) headset jack recognizes the (iPhone) combined headphone and microphone, in Windows 7 only the headphone (audio) works.

It is annoying as the internal mic picks up too much ambient noise including keyboard. Skype for example shows the headset option among three AudioOptions to choose from, for mic's there is only one option (the internal Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB13)), no headset mic.

In Windows Device Manager, (or under Control Panel, Manage Audio Devices, Recording, shows only the default internal mic, with driver version 6.6001.1.26, 8/16/2010 (this was installed with Bootcamp 3.1.3 and 3.2 updates, no further updates to this driver in 3.3).

So this is what I tried:

  • Installed the latest driver from http://www.cirrus.com/en/products/cs4207.html
  • Device manager, driver, update, picked the inf file and it selected the driver for my hardware which seems to be CS4206A (AB13). Driver version is now 6.6001.1.30, 12/15/2010.
  • Unfortunately, sorry User uploaded file : no change, still the combo jack only recognizes the headphone, not the microphone. Bummer.
  • I tested again, headset mic still works under OSX, but not under Windows7.

More ideas, anybody?? User uploaded file

Just some more info:

I managed to reinstall the drivers back from the Bootcamp CD. The drivers are: Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 29)

Unfortunately still left with the original problem: There is no audio being redirected from my external mic plugged in through the line-in part. Windows 7 sees the Audio (in Control Panel -> Sound), but no audio coming out... Also the headphone port similiar does not work.
