How do you remove a highlight from a book in iBooks?

I have accidentally highlighted an entire page in a book in iBooks. I want to remove the highlight, but when I select the section, the highlight option does not appear. The only way I've found to make it appear is to select both a highlighted section and an unhighlighted section. Then the highlight option appears and I can remove the highlight. But in this case, the entire page is already highlighted. There is no unhighlighted section to include, and thus the highlight option does not appear. How can I unhighlighted this page?

iBook, iOS 5.1

If you tap the icon at the top of the book's page next to the Library button (its icon looks like three bullet-pointed lines) and then tap Notes on the screen that you are taken to, you should see a list of the notes and highlights that you've made in that book - swipe across the one that you want to remove and a Delete should appear on the right-hand end of it. Tap the Resume button at top left of the page to go back to where you were in the book.

Yep...both examples work well.

But I do find this way a tad quicker for personally.

I have accidentally done the same but would like to restore my original highlights, they were in different colors and are now gone.

They were overwritten when I accidentally selected the entire book (still don't know I did that). I tried going back to the notes feature at the left corner (3 dots next to library) but all my old highlights were gone. It looks like when I selected the entire page it seems to have overwritten my other highlights (they were in different colors and are now gone).

I really hope you can help me. Can i shut this feature of selecting my entire book off? Hours of previously highlighted notes are now gone!!

If your previous notes highlights are not listed in the notes/highlights list then they've probably been deleted. Were they in the book when you last backed up to your computer's iTunes ? If they were then you could try restoring to that backup and see if they are put back (you will need to restore your whole iPad, and I'm not 100% sure if iBooks notes/highlights are included in a backup, but I assume that they are)

I have the same problem. Some how when I was highlighting a section, the entire book back to that point become highlighted, deleting all my previous notes and highlights.

I can't believe that there isn't a simple "undo" button on this software. Any suggestion on how to recover my overwritten highlights?

Now my book looks all highlighted from that point back....extremely sad... so much hours of work lost 😟

Hi. I am trying something and maybe it will work for now ( I prefer to have an undo option)

you can click on the A and the right corner, ( where you change the fonts) you have a choice to change the way you view your book, change it to scrolling, changing it to green.

Viewing the book up and down you won't have the problem of accidentally highlighting everything. I don't know if I woul like to read all books like this, for now I am doing a chapter book, so it is ok.

hope we will get and update very soon
