I can't print to an HP Photosmart 385 printer. I've tried reloading the driver software but that didn't work. My iMac recognizes the printer but any request to print results in a job stopped message. The printer is connected directly to the iMac, not through a hub. Any suggestions?
I would go to HP's web site to see if there is a new driver (perhaps you have already done this). After that, get in touch with HP's technical support people - either on-line or by E-mail. I have found them to be knowledgeable and most helpful.
I am having exactly the same problem with a photsmart 335 AND an older deskjet 960c. The computer recognizes both printers. When I use the HP utility, it tells me how much ink I have and will print test pages/alignment pages. But if I try to print a document or photo, it just doesn't work. Maybe this is something new with the Intel compatibility?
I'm replying to my own post - the computer keeps telling me that "jobs are stopped" for the printers. When I press "start jobs" the progress bar spins around, then just stops again.
Go to "application" - "utilities" and select "printer setup utility". Ensure that your printer is the default printer... it will also tell you if it is stopped or not.
I just called HP. there are others having this problem and it seems to be a driver issue. The tech support person said they are working to update the driver.
