New IOS 5.1 - pinch and zoom issues

Has anyone noticed there is a significant lag associated with the pinch and zoom after updating to IOS 5.1?

It seems to be effected in all applications (photos, google maps, safari etc).

It's kind of irritating especially when I'm trying to navigate via google maps and it won't zoom in because I'm trying to zoom too fast with my thumbs.

I checked my girlfriends iPhone who hasn't updated to IOS 5.1 yet and the pinch and zoom is smooth as silk.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm about to restore to factory default and update but really don't want to go that route if it's just a bug with IOS 5.1.

The problem is more apparent when you just use your thumbs (not thumb and finger) in an outward going fashion with the phone verticle (not landscaped). There is a half sec delay before it's start to zoom in or out. I just confirmed this with my friends iPhone. We did a test before and after the update. After we restored down from 5.1 the problem disapeared. Apple got back to me and said that yes, it is indeed affecting all iPhones (even if the user is not aware) and they are working on the issue.

How about you guys that say they are not affected, perform the above test and if you don't noticed anything please send me your model and carrier so I can work with Apple on this issue.

I def noticed this since the 5.1 update as well. The people here that do not notice it are probably unaware of it. I just showed a coworker who has an iphone on Verizon, mine is At&t and he said, "oh yeah! That IS different!"

I hope they fix this soon, it's aggrevating. I was thinking they might have tried to add a delay for people that try to tap and their tap is unsuccessful because they slightly moved their finger when they tapped so it didn't work. I hope this is not permanent as this would be dummying down the phone for people that don't know how to tap properly
