I noticed on my little snitch something that says mDNSResponder . Does any one know what this means? Thanks

I download little snitch on my mac book air and I noticed that under mDNSResponder it says fwdr-12. fwdr- 96. fwdr-238. fwdr- 68. It is located under the connection history. Also what is mDNSResponder? If anyone knows anything it would help Thanks!
