Netflix, gay and lesbian genre

Seems like a drastic step to throw away youripad because of a problem with one specific app ... The Netflix app does not have the same functionality as Netflix.com, nothing to do with iPad firmware. you can only search for titles that are a available for iPad streaming, not everything in the collection. Check to look for specific movies by name and see if they are available.

I know it bumps it up. Many people still want this answered, and thus does help people who've asked many times with no proper answer.

How do I know? I asked netflix support. They said Apple wouldn't allow a lgbt genre because it would upset various parental groups. Ask them yourself if you like. They will tell you the same thing. The lgbt genre was stripped from ios and atv devices in the netflix app. Yet it's there at netflix.com, on androids, on my ps3, ps4, xbox 360, xbox one. So even without Netflix's reply, it us is obvious.

Apple has also been asked directly why that genre is missing from iTunes TV/Movies in the store, and they said it was not child appropriate.

And Apple should be involved in that, parents should control content via ios and netflix parental controls.

They also made tumblr block #gay, #lesbian

Apple won't allow Netflix to show that genre because it's not "family friendly" the iTunes Store lacks that genre also

Lgbt films in iTunes are under drama, comedy, documentary, etc

But you can add a glbt film to your instant Q on netflix.com, then play it on your ipad

Of course they have,but this thread shows up on google, etc searches. Since it was never answered, I answered it. Not for the OP, but the 1000s of other people that do a search and find this thread.

I don't understand Apple. They are gay friendly. Helped to try to stop prop 8 in California, etc, but they won't add a lgbt genre to iTunes AND they don't allow Netflix, Hulu etc to do the same

To get around this, you can add lgbt movies to your watch list which IS shared. Then 5 star rate them... Then Netflix will offer lgbt movies even on the ios app in the "watched based on" section

You're level 9 so you know this shows up in Google searches for people who are having this issue. I'm just off the phone with NetFlix and they tell me that they are just completing testing of the filters that do this and you should be able to select desired and not desired genres in the next few weeks. So this is relavent to everyone who reads these posts, even if the OP moved on. We use the answers people post, not necessarily the OP question.

It also bumps an inactive thread to the top of the list, pushing down threads recently posted by people who are asking for help now.

I also don't know on what you base your assumption that Apple forced Netflix to remove the genre label.

This is complete **. Each summer during pride week, Apple has a section highlighting GLBT movies, apps and TV shows. They would never ask Netflix to remove the genre.

Apple prides itself on being GLBT friendly and does not descriminate.

If it was an issue with the latest firmware...which I doubt...then it would be up to Netflix to fix their app.
