iPhone 4s 5.1 disconnecting from WiFi
I have an iPhone 4s with 5.1 software and everytime I connect to my WiFi and lock my screen it just disconnects. I've tried restoring it, resetting network settings and rebooting it. How can I fix this?

Or is it a problem with my WiFi
Usually, that is a problem with Wi.-Fi router, and setting on it. I had similar problem with various different type of routers. Some of thoose wi-fi routers had older firmware, and I had to update them, to resolve same problems.
Some of the Belkin routers, after update worked well and there was no problem with connection but I faced different problem: AirPlay was not working well.
So I decided to purchase Airport Extreme. Now I have no problem with connection or with Airplay.
Check your router, see if there is update of firmware for it.
I have the same problem, when I download something wifi disconnect, but when I only browse it's ok.
Can apple not see that we are having an issue?? I dont want to change my routers settings just because of a silly problem. I have been using iPhone since the 3G. I pay for my apps like everyone else. Gimme some support please Apple!!!
I have also the following problem with my Iphone 4S update 5.1. Till last week i have no problems with my Wi-Fiand now I can't use it no more.
However, with my laptop i have no Wifi problems.Andsomeone else withIphone4S canstillworkthroughmy Wi-Fi.If Igotoanother placewherethereiswirelessnetwork, however, can Iworkwith myiphone..weird.My phonefinds mywi-fi connectionbutitcannot connectto... I have also reset the router, the Iphone, nothing works at home....
oh brother...just another thing on the list eh?
this is bad man.
thanks for the update.
i haven't updated to 5.1 yet, but i'm glad to know there are a slew of issues plaqueing as usual.
same issue here. in fact, I ran up my data usage because I thought WiFi was connected but it wasn't. couldn't figure out why I was using so much data; turns out even sitting my house I was using cell data.
haven't tried a full reset yet, but will tonight.
All iPhones disconnect from wifi when the screen is locked (phone sleeps) unless plugged into a power source.
There are numerous threads and proposed solutions to real wifi problems, just search. One that I've experienced is that my phone will switch to cellular if the wifi signal isn't strong. So, I could start Safari on wifi, and then notice later that I'm on cellular. I've taken to switching cellular off when I'm home, because I know I could move my phone out of wifi range while sitting at my kitchen table. This is not really a problem, just the way things work.
true, but there's still the fact that my iPhone will not re-connect to the WiFi when I wake it from sleep.
I met the same issue randomly, and apple advisors did not provide a solid answer for this. some of them said it's software issue/by design, some of them said it's hardware issue.
I checked it with a few iPhones. It's not my router. It's apple. I'll send my iPhone in and see what my service provider has to say. But it's just a pain to do it. Really thinking of switching to droid.
I've just checked my data usage and in the past month mine & my daughters data packets have tripled after noticing my phone not staying connected. I've gone ahead and ordered a new router since mine is old but I'm thinking this is an iPhone issue since my daughter lives 200 miles from me.
Apple needs to address this issue.
Called Apple support, but was past my 90 free call support window. Told the guy it should be a covered situation but he didn't want to here it. He said his phone did the same thing and that it was definately a software bug! I asked why should I have to pay to get the fix for a known bug! So after telling him to go blow and hanging up I went back to Apple store for the 4th time in a week. The guy there agreed that they should have helped me. He wiped my phone doing a DFU. That wipes the firmware and OS then reloaded both. Guess what, still don't work! I will be exchanging my phone everyday for a new one until I get one that works. I have 165 days left on my year warranty, if I have to go thru 165 phones I will. Then when my verizon contract is up I'll get a Droid. I suggest everyone that has this problem do the same, maybe then Apple will address the issue.
Having the same issue, Applecare solution is to "turn off Cellular Data" explained with the scenario "it's like taking your toyota to the shop stating the tranmission is slipping and Toyota's fix is to keep it in first gear"
This is not a proper Apple resolution or explaintion especially with these examples.
Performed a test seems as though this issue only occurs when streaming for me it was Vevo
