Is there a bug in last iTunes version? Cannot sync photos to iPod.

After reading every post and trying every solution in order to fix a bad photo syncing (error -48 and so), nothing seems to work for me. Anyone else thinks it's a bug in iTunes? My music update was OK but syncing stops after optimizing the photos, AND AFTER erasing the old ones in the iPod, so none was transferred to it. If it's a bug, hope someone recognizes it for many of us have a fix soon. I find ridiculous to step back to an older version in order to have a better performance, since that's why iTunes is updated in the first place. Any new solution for error -48 in the meantime?

I've just experienced a -208 error with the same circumstances you describe. I seem to recall this happening once before but I can't recall how I fixed it. I've tried restoring the iPod to factory settings and copying everything back. The music copies fine but it stops at the photos. I've been through the photo library turing libraries on and off trying to work out if if was a corrupt photo, but it doesn't appear to be any particular photo. I think it's a iPhoto database or cache file(?). If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.

BTW: your -48 error description is "Duplicate filename (rename); File found instead of folder"

UPDATE:

I have fixed my problem. I am on a Mac so I'm not sure how this solution applies to the PC. I went into the "user/Pictures/iPhoto Library" folder and deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder. Upon attempting to update the iPod from iTunes it completed without any issues. So given the description for my -208 error (bad file format) it's obvious that something within the "iPod Photo Cache" has become corrupt. Don't worry about deleting the entire folder, it will be recreated (error free).

Hope this helps.

I've been struggling for DAYS trying to update photos from iPhoto on my video iPod and kept getting the "file not found" notice. I tried the "5 R's" and rebuilding the iPhoto library (starting iPhoto with the command-option keys depressed) and kept getting the notice. The iPod was loading the photos (as evidenced by the iPod's "about" window), but they wouldn't show up on the iPod and iTunes indicated 0 photos. I tried loading the "data" folder from iPhoto and was able to see my photos, but the albums were not there so I didn't consider this the best solution. Then I found Adrick's hint. I deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" re-selected the iPhoto library under the iPod prefs, updated again and everything works now. I can see my photos and albums again and I don't get the "iPod cannot be updated, file not found" notice. The only remaining problem is that after the automatic updates, the iPod won't eject by itself, I need to eject it manually. Thanks for the hint, I only wished I'd found it earlier. I wonder how many others are struggling with this. Apple needs to post a KB article on this now!

Thanks for the advice. That may solve my similar problem, as described at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=406430&tstart=0
However, I don't use iPhoto as the "target" or copiable folder for my iPod Photo 40 gb. I use my "Pictures" Folder. However, I'l give this a try.
(The error message I get, and have gotten since I upgraded to Mac OS X Tiger, is, "The iPod "— " cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found.")

I'd like to go back to the old
software but don't think I can revert
backwards.....Great disappoinment.

Going backwards (I'm assuming from v7 to v6) is possible. After reverting iTunes (uninstall v7, reinstall v6), you have to revert the iTunes library file ("iTunes Library.itl") as well. On my wife's PC, iTunes 7 very thoughfully archived the v6 library file with a date. Just pull that file back out, name it appropriately, and iTunes 6 should run again. (It worked for me.)

Unfortunately, we are still having the same problem with photos not loading. I'm now wondering if it doesn't have something to do with the firmware update. Time to find the last standalone iPod software updater for Windows and iTunes 6. Bleh.

Good luck on reverting your iTunes.

Sorry to be piling onto this category, but I can't figure out how to initiate a new question--and my question does related to the last iTunes version. Ever since I updated, my 30g iPod no longer works with my iHomes h5 clock radio. I've taken into two audio places for diagnostics, and it's working fine. However, I've tried it in 3 different h5's and it doesn't work in any of them. My wife's nano works just fine in the radio though. Any ideas what the problem is and what I can do? Thanks in advance.
