Is there any way to cut/copy and paste BETWEEN different documents in one application (obviously email) or indeed between applications (e.g. Facebook and email.)?

Find the text you want to edit in a note, email, web page, or other app. You can select a word by double-tapping it, and select more or less text by dragging the grab points. Then tap to cut, copy, or paste. To undo an edit, shake iPhone, then tap the Undo button.
I think I knew most of this apart from the incredibly "tricksy" shaking the phone. It stull doesn't answer whether I can copy from one document to another because there doesn't seem to be a global "paste" instruction which crosses documents and platforms. Am I being stupid?
tap, select to copy, tap in other document and select paste. It should work like that. I am using it for copy from e-mails and pasting in notes, and this works for me
Well, I routinely copy from one app to another, so I don't quite understand your problem. Are you saying you try this & it does not work?
Hmm! Yes! I tried to copy text from one email to another with no success. If you guys say it's possible then it must be me that is doing something wrong. I'll keep trying. Thanks for your help.
Der! Just need to be more accurate in my tapping. Was getting the wrong editing tool up :-(.
