Imported movies not showing up in iTunes

Hi

Please help. Imported movies are suddenly not showing up in iTunes. When I import they copy over and create a corresponding folder in finder, but they are not displaying in the iTunes library. This has just started happening today.

The movies show up and will play on Apple TV2 and on the Mac using QuickTime, but not in iTunes. We use iTunes to sort movies.

iTunes 10.6.

Any ideas?

I see a few posts about this a week but obviously it isn't happening to all the millions of iTunes users (or we'd see hundreds of posts a day) so it must be something to do with your computer's configuration. You'll have to do experimenting to see if you can figure out why it is doing it.

Some people say they see the music in their Recently Added but not in the main Music listing. Do you see that?

What happens if you re-start iTunes? Do the items appear?

Try holding down the option key while starting iTunes to create a new, blank library. Now add a few of the tracks that do not appear in the other library to this one. Do they show? If they do then it seems to be something about the library file.

I am having the same problem. I Have several movies and when I pulled them up on my iPad 2 they were in a random order so I decided to delete them out of iTunes and put them back in. iTunes said it was importing the movies but they never showed up. I am able to see the on my iPad Homeshare (although still scrambled) and on my iPhone and Apple TV ( in the correct order). I rebooted my laptop and it did not help. I am running the latest versions of software on all of my devices. iTunes is running the latest version on a Windows Vista laptop.

Hi again

This has magically fixed itself. I had tried as Limnos suggested and rebooted iTunes and the whole computer, but problem persisted. I decided to leave it alone as I was over the whole thing (combined with not being able to upgrade ipad2 after a dozen of attempts) - so gave up on all things Apple and went to bed. Thinking I'd start mcking about with configurations the next day.

Next morning problem persisted and that afternoon it righted irself for reasons best known unto itself. No further updates or reboots involved - just some gremlins I suspect. I hope others have similar resolutions.

Thanks to Limnos for attempted assistance. :-)

I had this same problem a few weeks ago with iTunes and it has started happening again today also. The first time it happened and I called Apple support, they had me restart my computer in safe mood and open iTunes. The guy said that in safe mood any program will automatically repair any problem that is going on. I then restarted my computer normally and the movies showed up. I am glad to know that I am not the only one having this issue and it is not a hardware issue. I think it must be some glitch with iTunes, along with the newest update not giving me an accurate count of how many movies I have.
