Full screen mode is, for me, primarily an annoyance. In fact, it has caused me to consider using Firefox as my primary browser.
But I do like Safarii. Is there any way to turn off full-screen mode?

Hit the ESC Key twice.
Yes. Drab the triangle on the lower right corner of the Safari screen up and towards the middle. That will resize your screen. Get it to the size you like. The next time you open Safari, it will remain that size.
Just hit the ESC key.
