Slow Script: Safari no longer responds...script issue.

I have reviewed several similar discussions. While typing this, a slow script warning has popped up 4 times. After making the changes, I get no results. I have gone to Safari > Preferences > Javascript on/off/on again & Deleted cookies all to get further warnings. Please help. Popped up 3 more times.

The message:

Safari is no longer responding because of a script on the webpage “MacBook: Notebooks: Apple Support Communities” (https://discussions.apple.com/community/notebooks/macbook?view=overview). Do you want to stop running the script, or let it continue?

I've been getting the same error from Safari for several weeks now. What I find "interesting" is that there's usually no visible time lag betweenwhen I click on something and when the erro pops up. So it seems that "slow script" means a script that doesn't respond within 1/10 of a second or so. I got several such errors when I signed in and replied here. The sign-in script got the error instantly when I clicked on the "sign in" link. The same instant error popped up when I hit the "Reply" link.

I wonder if there's somewhere that I can set the script timeout interval. It really should be longer than a (fraction of) a second.

I also got "slow script" while typing this, when I decided to move a phrase with copy-and paste. When I hit CMD-C, the error popped up. I also got one when I hit a backspace. Again, both were instantaneous.

Look at the top line on your Safar Bowser, does it read: Safari File Edit View History Bookmarks Develop Window Help? You are interested in the "Develop" tab. If it is not there, open a terminal window (in your "spotlight/finder" in the upper right. Just type "terminal") Open it, then cut and paste this into it:

defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1

then close the terminal, close Safari and restart it. Now, you'll have the "Develop" tab. Open that tab and select "Disable Runaway JavaScript Timer".

-all done!
