Q: airport utility finds error 6727 in updating and will not update

my computer seems to be having communication problems with airport base and time machine.  How can I fix the problem?

iMac (24-inch Early 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

    How are they linked in the network? How does the computer connect.. wireless or ethernet?

    Did this problem start with upgrade to Lion?

     

    If you restart the whole network.. modem, base station, TC.. computers in that order.. do things work ok for a little while at least??

     

    I always recommend simplify the network.. a direct ethernet connection to the router you are working on.. and using the 5.6 utility not 6.0

    You do need internet to connect to do the firmware update so basically you need functional internet and functional connection to the device to be upgraded.. whether one and the same connection depends.
