There is a PM on the top left corner of my iPhone but it's only there when I'm on the home screen. And there is a big space in the right where the battery should be

I'm assuming this is what she's talking about... I just got it too 😟 AND my phone is being super slow. Touch screen is freezing and delaying constantly I don't know what's going on... Do I have too much stuff on it? Is it a memory issue?
That is interesting. Do you know how to do a screen capture? Hold the sleep/wake button and then tap the home button, you should hear what sounds like the camera shutter. You can find the photo in the camera roll of the iPhone. You can then insert it here using the little camera icon on the toolbar for the text box. Maybe then we can make some type of determination.
Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears?
Have you jailbroken you phone?
Yes I was able to reset it that night and it cleared up the screen problem but it's still ridiculously slow... No its not jail broken. It's just a regular old iPhone 4.
