Safari 5.1.4 breaks google docs
It appears this new version of Safari breaks Google Docs. All I did was install Safari 5.1.4, and now I cannot work in a Google Doc.

Hi Bruce...
This only takes a minute and might be worth a try...
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
Carolyn,
I gave it a try, but that does not solve the problem. Any other suggestions? Does anyone else have this problem? I really think it's a Google Docs issue.
Thank you for trying. At least I know that doesn't help now.
Can you use the Google browser > Google Chrome
I decided the problem. Once I opened Safari on a 64-bit mode, all the problems disappeared.
How do you run Safari in 64-bit mode?
Takohashi,
That is the fix! To make the change I selected the Safari app in my applications folder, did a get info (command I), and then unchecked the box that said open in 32-bit mode.
Nope, it's not a Google issue. Changing Safari to 64-bit mode fixes the problem. So, whatever it is that 5.1.4 chokes on in Google, it does it solely in 32-bit mode.
Thanks! It worked perfectly.
Thanks Takahoshi. Really runs!!🙂
This solved my problem as well. At least for now it seems. Yesterday I reinstalled java and that restored many of the sites but then this morning they were broken again. This fix seems to have restored them again. Hopefully it keeps on working.
Thanks for the fix.
This worked for me! Thanks to all.🙂
Phew - thanks - worked a treat - I wonder why that option was ticked ?
Ya Hoo!!! Great Stuff. THANKS.
. . . I know there is some website that requires 32 bit but which one escapes me right now. Time will tell me I'm sure.
Thanks, Takoshi!
I have a related problem. I'm still running OS 10.5.8 on a non-Intel Mac. I'm running Safari v 5.0.6. I'm trying to access a pdf file that is stored via Google Docs on a website I frequently. When I click on the link in Safari I'm taken to a Google Docs Sign In page. I have a plug in installed to view the pdf file within Safari. When I click on the link in Firefox the pdf opens and displays in my browser.
I don't have the option of running Safari in the 64-bit mode (as far as I know). Is there anything that I can do?
Thanks in advance for any sage advice.
