Battery wire device safe or not

Is the batterry wire device has been designed to avoid shortcircuit to prevent the laptop ?


Coz mine seems broken coz the light does not light anymore....


Can someone tell me please i want to sleep well not thinking my computer is broken or somethin !! LooL

G4 PowerBook power adapters originally shipped with at least the models through the Titanium versions had a very weak strain relief at the computer connector end. The weakness would eventually allow a wire to break at that end and the computer would no longer charge. This was eventually corrected, time-frame unknown, as I replaced my original adapters in maybe 2006 or so with the "new improved" versions. So, that may be one answer to the question of why there is no charging indicated.


Not the end of the story, though, because your PMU (power management unit) may have crashed, thus needing a reset. The reset method varies from model to model, though, so you should check out this Apple Knowledge Base article:

That being said, if you have a weak or failed internal PRAM./clock/backup battery, that can also cause problems, as ultimately it is that battery that will keep the PMU running if there is not a good main battery or the machine is not getting the external DC power from the power adapter.
