hide items when you login is not working

In Snow Leaopard if I check the box against apps to Hide them whem logging in it worked fine... I login and the apps are running but not open (dot underneath).

After upgrading to Lion this setting is ignored. Everytime I restart all the apps I chose to Hide open their windows and I have to manually click the red cross to hide them.

For info, I have my computer do a scheduled restart every morning before I get to work. So I assume the checkbox to reopen windows when you login back in is checked as no one is there to uncheck it. BUT this should not be related, as the apps are marked to be hidden.

Thanks

Thanks but they are not running open, thats the issue. They are hidden. They are running with the dot under them. I have Skype, a security video camera system using my webcam, Evernote, a password manager,DynDNS client... few more things. They are all running in the backround, I always want them running, but I dont want to see the windows open. When I log back in all these "hidden" windows open and I have to close them.

The screenshot implies a human is present. I use the built in feature to automatically shutdown and startup the computer in the middle of the night so I cannot uncheck this.

I assumed when you mark an app to Hide at login it will hide at login.

I would assume that the system behaves as it would if you leave that box checked when shutting down automatically. And it doesn't matter whether those items are marked as hidden in Login Items, because they're being reopened through a different mechanism. They are not being opened as login items because they've already been reopened by the OS, since they were running at shutdown.

You could try disabling that feature:

Note that I haven't done this, so can't vouch for its success.

Looks like thats worked! Thats great thanks a lot.

My video security system still opens but I guess thats the app rather than Lion.

Skype always annoyingly bounces a notification when it starts, I have to open and close it. But I think thats an app issue too. Fixed - Was set to bounce when I login!

All the other windows no longer open. BUT crucially the Hide when logging in does work. Perfect.

Thanks for a lot.
