I submitted my book Friday morning. Checking yestderday, I see this.
"Metadata Issue. There is an issue with the metadata. Contact us after you have verified and redelivered the metadata."
Trouble is, I can't see anything wrong with the metadata. The blanks are all filled in. Has anyone else seen this? I did a search here and it seems to indicate that Apple won't be able to tell me what the problem is. Any hints or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
No red flags...?
Where would a red flag be? The Metadata section of my "Textbook Information" on iTunes Connect is free from flags.
Could they be talking about Metadata within the book file itself?
To be clear, this is the "Metadata" the error is talking about?
Hey Skippy ! I envy your walk. Double check your spelling in all the entries, that might be a cotchya. You could have two letters juxtaposed – jutxposed – and not have noticed. Then resubmit the book. - Fabe
Thanks Fabe, it was a lot of fun. Are you talking about spellings in the description of the screenshot I posted or somewhere within the book itself? I am unsure that the Metadata the error is referring to is what I posted in the screenshot or elsewhere such as in the book file.
If it's the screenshot, then I am at a loss. I don't see anything wrong with it.
No not the screen shots. What I mean is the data you typed into iTunes Producer ...

It would be easy to verify for iTunes Producer whether the title in the metadata matches the title in the book. Sadly, it doesn't do that.

Singularly useful error message. The author gets to play the guessing game. Why not just say "The title in the metadata doesn't match the title of the book"?
I have the same problem with many of my submitted ebooks.
All I can suggest is to diligently go through each field of metadata, checking that it meets the requirements set up in the publisher guide and that the metadata is consistent with the book you submitted.

Well, I learned to do input data validation in my first semester computing course at university. Not a lot to ask for, exactly. First-semester students are expected to get that kind of thing right in their assgnments.

I came here looking for help with the same issue after waiting for a month with the book showing 'Approved' and being 'Active' for 16 days. I (wrongly, I guess) presumed that when it was finally in stores, the "not in xx stores" would change to being in xx stores, so I waited because it had passed the validation checks and showed approved. I figured it would show up once Apple did whatever they're doing with it, so I was patient and kept checking back. (Caveat: I'm a first-timer and didn't know any better, and there sure aren't helpful hints, let alone obvious big red flags when the 'metadata' is wrong.) Just today I finally clicked on the 'not in xx stores', only to find that every one shows there's a problem with the metadata. What the @#$%...why is it showing approved and active then.
...So, why can't Apples guru's at least give some indication of what's wrong with the metadata they think has problems? If anyone finds a specific example of what is wrong with the metadata, I'd like to know it.
(btw, self-righteous quips like MichiHenning's posts aren't helpful...even if you think you're above everyone else here.)
